Functional Group Forensics is an independent firm specializing in forensic science instruction, consulting and expert witnessing for the legal and scientific communities. We provide expertise in a variety of the analytical forensic sciences, including chemistry, toxicology, and trace evidence. The main goal of our work is to bridge the knowledge gap between the practice of forensic science and its application within the legal system.
The mission of Functional Group Forensics is to ensure that all physical and chemical evidence submitted to a court of law is valid, reliable and unbiased.
Some of the ways we accomplish this mission are:
by providing law enforcement, attorneys, judges and juries with the knowledge and information necessary to properly evaluate scientific evidence
by providing forensic scientists, laboratories and agencies with the instruction and tools necessary to perform accurate, responsible and unbiased analytical science
by conducting research and inquiry into issues occurring at the intersection of science and law
